About

Why DutyNode exists

Data centres are being built close to homes faster than noise rules are being written. People living nearby describe a constant hum that a dBA reading does not capture, and they are often told the site is within limits. DutyNode gives them, and the officials and journalists they talk to, two things: a free check against published low-frequency noise methods, and a sourced record of what has happened elsewhere.

DutyNode is run by Richard G. Prouse, Principal Analyst of Confidential Risk Consulting and author of the Lr Model paper. It is a trading name of Richard G. Prouse, based in Auckland, New Zealand, and is not affiliated with any data-centre operator, law firm or government agency.

DutyNode is not an acoustics consultancy and does not act as an expert witness. For measurements that will be relied on in a dispute, use your council or a board-certified acoustician.
